How soon can I finish the web design portion?

I just started the web design program and was wondering about how long it will take me to finish? How many hours a day should I be putting in so I can finish ASAP? ~Thanks~

I assume you mean "Become a Web Designer", it does take sometime to finish, there is a lot to cover in the HTML and CSS deep dives. I probably spent about a month on that specific track.

The great thing about Treehouse is you can take as long, or as little, time as you need to learn a subject. The important thing with doing a course is retaining the knowledge. It would be easy to just run through but you might not actually learn as much as if you slowed down and took your time. On the flip side you might be a mega fast learner and blaze right through it. It is all very relative. Ether way good luck in learning a new skill and remember the forum normally has answers for when you get stuck.

I have been working the Become a Web Designer track for a little over two weeks. I spend about 3 hours every day or other day, and usually don't get on during weekends. I have learned, however, that if I try to speed things up too much I end up spending more time seeking out information that I missed for answers in the challenges. Just take your time and you won't get frustrated.

Currently there are 54 badges on that track, my rule of thumb is one badge per hour to give you enough time to take notes and practice what you've learned on codepen.

So if spent 3 hours everday, you'd be done in 18 days.

That perfect moment will never come. You can always learn more, but HTML and CSS its enough for websties like "smells like bakin" . My advice is design first (with software like Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks), and then you can try to code with HTML and CSS. You can also download free website template (in a psd file) and try to code it.

I agree with this, I have designed dozens of websites for people only knowing a handful of HTML/CSS tricks. People thought I knew how to code...before I really knew how. Still learning.

I've also been working on the "Become a Web Designer" track for little over two weeks. I've completed the first two sections and am currently on my 11th stage for CSS. There's been only 2 days where I haven't been on teamtreehouse the last 2 weeks. I spend at least 3 hours on here everyday. But, all that knowledge is wasted if not applied. Right now, I have a hard time retaining all my knowledge in CSS, but my plan is to go back when I make html/css documents (that is if I can't do it myself).

The time it will take you to finish the "Become a Web Designer" track depends on your experience with HTML and CSS and your objectives (if you just want to know how to troubleshoot HTML designs or you want to actually build a website from scratch).

I found the HTML section and the first two website building projects fairly easy, but since I want to build my own website, I find myself re-watching videos and writing down the code parts I need.

I've been on Treehouse for two months now and half-way through the web design track, but I didn't study every day (I would say max. 15 hours/week) and, when I got frustrated, I just followed some of the business projects.
