I am getting an error in the last code or is there another way of doing it.

./ScrabblePlayer.java:28: error: incompatible types: int cannot be converted to String
return count;
^

This is because your getTileCount function is currently a String, but you're returning an int.
public String getTileCount(char h) { // If you change this to an int instead, you should be good to go.
int count = 0;
for (char tile: mHand.toCharArray()) {
if (tile == h) {
count ++;
}
}
return count;
}
