JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Passing an Argument to a Function

How to set value from results of function?..Confused

I did not understand what am i doing wrong. Here is the task and my code:

Challenge Task 2 of 2 After your newly created returnValue function, create a new variable named echo. Set the value of echo to be the results from calling the returnValue function. When you call the returnValue function, make sure to pass in any string you'd like for the parameter.

The function will accept the string you pass to it and return it back (using the return statement). Then your echo variable will be set with what is returned, the results.

Any ideas?

script.js
function returnValue(x) {
  var echo = x + 6;
 return echo;
}

returnValue("Hello");

Hi Asli, I know the challenge can seem a bit confusing. The task 2 of the challenge requests you set the value of echo to be the results from calling the returnValue function.

var echo = returnValue();

Then passing in any string in the 'x' parameter, would be:

var echo = returnValue('Hello');

At the end of the day, the function will accept the string you pass to it and return it back (using the return statement). Then your echo variable will be set with what is returned i.e. the results.

function returnValue(x) {
      return x;
}

var echo = returnValue('Hello');

Thanks a lot Osaro!
