How to use console.printf to print out formatted string

Can someone tell me what Im doing wrong?

Example.java 
// I have initialized a java.io.Console for you. It is in a variable named console.
do{
 response = console.readLine("Do you understand while loops");
}
while(response.equalsIgnoreCase("no"));
console.printf("Because you said <response>, you passed the test!");

The problem is in the last line. It should print a formatted string. Also, the instruction in Task 2 says: "Don't forget to declare response outside of the do while loop.":

// I have initialized a java.io.Console for you. It is in a variable named console.
response = console.readLine("Do you understand while loops");
do{
    response = console.readLine("Do you understand while loops");
} while(response.equalsIgnoreCase("no"));

console.printf("Because you said %s, you passed the test!", response);

Here's the correct version:

do{
String response = console.readLine("Do you understand while loops"); // store the answer in a variable of type String
}
while(response.equalsIgnoreCase("no")); 
System.out.printf("Because you said %s, you passed the test!", response); // use printf
