How Treehouse are hosting their videos? Are they self-hosted?

Hi, I'm building a website that features media uploading including videos. and i'm wondering what is the best way to manage that? What are the services that Treehouse is using? and What would be suitable for a much smaller business? What are the gems that i could use for uploading and securing images and files?

These are my suggestions that you should investigate, although I don't have THAT much experience in this particular field.

Gems for uploading files: Refile (the new hotness), Carrierwave, Paperclip

When it comes to storing files, these things can be expensive (space+bandwidth+speed). You should check out Amazon AWS services like S3 for storage and CloudFront for serving files.
