I can't figure out how to add direction handles to anchor points after making a custom shape with the pen tool.

When I make a custom shape with the pen tool in photoshop, some of the anchor points have direction handles, and others do not.

I can't figure out how to add direction handles to anchor points that do not have them.

Could anyone help explain why some anchor points have direction handles while others don't?

You can click and drag the handles out using the Convert anchor point tool. The Convert anchor point tool is in the pen tools flyout menu.

I hope this helps Jeremy Franklin

If you mean bezier handles, then go to your pen tool and select the icon that looks like a V on its side (Convert Anchor Point). Clicking individually selected point with it will take away/put in handles as a toggle. If you are missing one of the two handles, click on the point twice to take away and then put in handles.

Thanks for the help! Jeremy, I want to mark your answer as correct, but I think this page won't let me do that as you replied as a comment rather than an answer.
