JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

I dont know how to do this challenge

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith#";

var userName = id.toUpperCase(), lastName.toUpperCase();
index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>

<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">

So Task 1 is asking you to use the toUpperCase() method to the variable id and assign it to a userName variable.

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase();

Task 2 then wants you to add/concatenate the "#" and lastName variable to the userName variable.

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase();
userName = userName + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

this is the correct way to do it. var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase(); note: Even if you upper case user name at the top level, when you console log it, user name will still be the same as it was originally, without upper case.
