3,083 PointsI get a compiler error, I do not understand
I am wondering why the compiler error is giving me a headache about the answer.indexOf in the code I don't see anything misspelled on the code and everything seems good.
public class ScrabblePlayer {
// A String representing all of the tiles that this player has
private String tiles;
public ScrabblePlayer() {
tiles = "";
}
public String getTiles() {
return tiles;
}
public void addTile(char tile) {
tiles += tile;
// TODO: Add the tile to tiles
}
public boolean hasTile(char tile) {
boolean hasIt = answer.indexOf(tile) != -1;
if (hasIt){
return true;
} else {
return false;
}
}
}

231,269 PointsThere doesn't seem to be anything named "answer" defined in this code. You may have intended to apply the "indexOf" to "tiles" instead.
Also, the boolean comparison result can be returned directly, you don't need a conditional to return boolean literals.
