I'd like some feedback

I feel like I've been developing my page in a bubble for some time and I feel like I need a different set of eyes to give me feed back on how it's coming along. While the site is mostly finished there are some sections that will be expanded or possibly changed later on. This page is for my freelance business so I want brutally honest opinions because if this page doesn't look great it will be harder to get a paying client. The web page is www.bunnieblogs.com

Hi Bunnie

Looks like you have been hard at work - and made some good progress. I would be happy to lend and ear on this and help out further if you want. I think there are some areas which can be improved upon and developed to give you the site you are looking for more but might be a little more in-depth than you find on here . If you want you can email me a g@justg.co.uk and we can have a natter. I am sure I dont have all the answers but might be useful to have a dedicated sounding block.

It's a nice start. A few things stuck out for me:

  • Look at how you can use white space (or black space in your case ;) ) and make things less compact and cluttered
  • The font is hard to read. It's especially evident on the "About" page. You could keep it for the menus but I would recommend choosing a different paragraph font.
  • The feature image on the homepage is redundant and confusing. You have the bunny logo repeated, similar fonts to the logo, etc. It's a good test of your graphic design skills but doesn't really fit in that space, IMHO.
  • Call to Action: You have a contact form (that's good) but for a customer it's unclear what they'd hire you for. Consider having a services page or similar, where you describe what, exactly, you do. Most customers won't know whether they need HTML, PHP or what a theme is. They just know they want a website or blog.

These are just suggestions. You seem to have decent graphic design skills and an interesting colour palette. It's just the spacing and the cohesion of individual elements into a complete page that could use more work.

Thanks for the tips so far they are definitely giving me ideas of areas to work on.

Graham Anderson - I will keep your email in mind if I need another set of eyes again. Also I think talking about advanced things would someday be great but at this time I feel like I need to see how far team treehouse can take me with what's already here.

Sharon Walls - those are some great tips. I was trying to show my services through the slider and I always felt the home page was a bit lacking so thanks for the great ideas on expanding it. I will have to see how developing the home page goes before I see if another page is necessary but I appreciate the feedback. I will definitely keep those things in mind as I go back to work on it. If anyone else has anything not said here I welcome the feedback.
