PHP Using PHP with MySQL Querying the Database with PHP Querying the Database

If you had to use a MS SQL database instead of My Sql, what would the connection line be?

I am struggling to work out how to use PHP to connect instead to an MS SQL database.

You're going to use a different command. Take a look at http://php.net/manual/en/function.sqlsrv-connect.php to help get you started.

I'd also recommend looking at some classes that help you do this a little easier than trying to manually write all the connection and everything each time you need. But the link above should help you get started with connecting to a sql server.

Thanks for the heads up Gareth. I will have a look through there.
