No one needs this more than I do! So glad to see this class finally debut.

I'm also very excited. Illustrator was one of the most difficult things for me to learn. Can't wait to get a refresher.

I would like to learn Illustrator so that I can actually turn my sketches into vectors. For some reason, it's very hard for me. Say, Ernest Grzybowski , do you do logo design, and if so, how much do you charge?

I have only had to do logo design twice, and it's mainly priced around what my clients can afford. For the most part, there is a base price I charge, and then hourly on top of that. As long as the customer is happy, then there is never a problem!

Could you point me at your examples, if you could?

Awesome stuff! I always wanted to get comfortable playing around in Illustrator. Even some of my friends who studied illustration are flummoxed by it.

I have recently fallen in love with illustrator. I just bought a book today on CS6 so I can learn more. Until a few months ago I did everything in Photoshop...now I'm trying to do everything in Illustrator because vector graphics are so much more elegant and scalable. Can't wait to start the course!

Really ! I love photoshop, i think illustrator is kinda hard but i'm gonna learn it more now so we'll see :)

I did all my artwork for my personal Wordpress site in Photoshop. I love to paint, and Photoshop made it so easy to paint the way I like. But Illustrator has that simple back-to-basics feel that Web 2.0 is delivering. Also, with illustrator the idea of vector graphics is so appealing to me, because I simply hate pixels and bitmapped images. :) This is what I did on my website: http://www.metalstar.us/ everything is done with a mouse, and Photoshop 6 (not CS6...just 6).

Wow those are really really nice drawings there and nice site too, Exccelent Job !! I hate when pixels show in your images also, I personally like making lettering logos with Photoshop, you can check out some of Photoshop work at : http://pablolitardo.foliohd.com/ but I'm still learning, I'm not too good at drawing but like I said I enjoy making logos,I guess I'm just used to photoshop but I'm gonna learn a lot more illustrator soon, so yeah wish me luck :)

Oh and I use CS5 I think :)

Thanks Pablo! Illustrator should not be a problem for you. In fact, I think you will be blown away with what you can accomplish in it; especially with lettering and font design! You will be able to take your logos to a whole new level of creativity! You should practice sig design in Photoshop, that's one of the things I loved with CS3 with the masking tool and playing around with gradients and effects, the bezel and shadow tools give your fonts texture and depth, which I absolutely loved, and in Illustrator it's even better without the pixelization!

Here's some examples of what I mean: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&hs=tMe&hl=en&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=transparent+font+tuts+in+photoshop&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.46226182,d.eWU&biw=1360&bih=648&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&authuser=0&ei=0CKLUfmAKI_i8gSP5YG4DA

Thank Aaron Hill, I will start practicing Illustrator once the course comes out, and hopefully I will get the hang of it, and thanks for the link I do enjoy doing effects on text, I'll do a transperent one next.

Thanks Again

When you draw on your computer do you use the mouse or do you have a Drawing Tablet ?

This is awesome, I have scrounged some illustrator skills together, but I have many many holes.

Pablo, I do everything with a mouse...a really old cheap mouse, and a 10 year old copy of Photoshop 6. I also have CS3 and CS6 but for airbrush painting nothing beats the simplicity of PSD 6.

Just a quick bump to show my appreciation for this course. In the past I've really enjoyed Mat's videos but I didn't really try to create anything myself because I didn't really have a clue how to use Illustrator. So I've been anticipating this course since it was announced.

Admittedly, I'm only a beginner when it comes to Illustrator so maybe I'm easily pleased but I used to struggle through the program spending ages doing something that is probably very simple for most people and not quite getting what I wanted. I've only watched a few videos so far but I can already see how simple tips such as holding shift to scale proportionally will be useful to me in the future. It might not be groundbreaking to most people but hopefully will mean that I'm a bit more creative in the future.
