Ilustrator CC won't show me the fill color of an object

So, I've been trying to give a fill color to a simple rectangle in Adobe Illustrator CC and I just cannot see it! I am in preview mode and not in outline. I've also tried to clear the appearance and finally, when I isolate the object I can see it with the fill color I've chosen. I cannot find any solution, what might be going wrong there?

Can you explain how you mean by cannot see it?

If you make sure the object is ungrouped or not a Compound Path - Object > Compound Path > Release it might help.

No it was not that but I found the solution!! I was using masks accidentally. It is working fine now! thank you very much for your reply ! :)
