JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Introducing JavaScript Your First JavaScript Program

I'm confused about this challenge bc we're writing it in the .html file, whereas the proceeding video was in .js.

Does <script></script> refer to JavaScript? Is that why it works the same way as writing it in .js?

index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>
</head>

<body>
</body>

<script>
// Write your code here.
  document.write("<h1>Welcome to my site</h1>");
</script>

</html>

Hey Andy VanderLinde,

Writing your JavaScript in a script tag on the page or in its own separate file is a-okay! Either way, they will perform the same. If you were writing something that needed to be used by multiple pages (or even by other websites, etc.), then a .js file would be the route to go. But, if that JavaScript only needs to be run by that page, then going with just a <script> tag is perfectly fine. I hope that makes sense! =]
