I'm struggling to get my brain around this code challenge...

This is as far as I have got, I am stuck on how to return the higher number of the two. I am very grateful, for any pointers as how to proceed or approach this problem. Many thanks for your time.

Hey Edward,

So, because the arguments you passed to max() are of the type string, less-than and greater-than are computed differently — read: not as you're expecting. Also, max() needs to return the greater number. Change your arguments to numbers like below and return the max-number and it should work.

function  max (Num1, Num2) {

  if ( Num1 < Num2 ) {
    return Num2;
  }

  return Num1;
}

max (2, 4);

Hi Edward,

You're on the right path! Your if statement is correct now you only need to complete the return like so. 

function  max (Num1, Num2) {

  if ( Num1 < Num2 )
    return Num1;
} else {
return Num2;
}

max (2, 4);
