It doesn't look like you've written any code yet.

At least please give it a good-faith attempt and then ask for help if you have trouble, and be sure to show your code.

The challenge asks you to: "Declare a variable named firstName and initialize it to the string returned from a call to Console.ReadLine()." So to start, you need to break this into simple steps. First, declaring a variable is a fundamental skill you will need for most programming languages. This can be done, like so:

var firstName = "Chris";

To read from the console, you can use:

string userinput = Console.ReadLine();

To combine the two tasks can be done like so:

var firstName = Console.ReadLine();

Console.Write("Enter your firstName :"); string firstName = Console.ReadLine();

:unamused: FYI: Treehouse discourages leaving explicit solutions without explanations.
