I'm stuck on this one. I'm getting a weird syntax error.

I feel like I'm forgetting something, but I'm not sure what.

function max(first , second) {
  if first > second {
  return first
  }
  else {
  return second
  }
}

You're on the right track, just missing a few things:

function max(first, second) {
  if (first > second) {
  return first;
  }
  else {
  return second;
  }
}

Hi Jade! you should wrap first > second between parentesis like this:

     if ( first > sencond ) { 

}
