Like Szabolcs said, please write the entire question. From what you wrote it sounds like you are trying to find some of the users, so you most likely need to enter something in the WHERE clause.

SELECT *
FROM users
WHERE

What the first? => "Find all users with the first" ??? Please write the full question :)

Maybe:

SELECT first_name FROM users
