information on why the git repo got downloaded to his home directory and how to download it to a different location.

when you clone a repo, it gets cloned to the directory you currently are in. he was in his home directory and so that's where it was cloned. if you want to clone the repo into a special file or so, just navigate to it in the terminal and then execute the terminal clone git command there.
