innerHTML does not seem to work in IE.

Any recommendations on an alternative to using innerHTML for something like this?

ddlUser = <i class="fa fa-user-circle"></i>&nbsp;<label id="lblWelcomeUser" class="user_full_name"></label>&nbsp;<i class="fa fa-sort-down"></i>; document.querySelector('div#ddlUser .header-button').innerHTML = ddlUser;

possibly using createElement and then adding classes either with className or classList and then appending to dom with appendChild.
