What platform are you attempting to install it on? Often, it will ask you to select and confirm the password you would like to use during the installation stage. This can be anything you choose.

If you do not get this choice during installation, and are using a *nix machine, often the password is blank or set by your distributions packagers. You can run the mysql_secure_installation command with sudo privileges or as the root user to change/set the password and secure some other aspects of the system.
