Installing MySQL server trouble.

I'm doing DataBase Foundations. I have a later version from the one in the video, in fact they no longer promote the same version as the video. I'm having troubles making the connection.

It says: Cannot Connect to Database Server Your connection attempt failed for user 'root' from your host to server at localhost:3306: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

Any help? Can you update your database courses?

Where are you seeing this error and what are you doing when you see it?

Also what are you using phpmyadmin, workbench, or shell ?

Check out the video in which Andrew goes through the installation. I believe he provides the files for the version of the installation used in the course. I did try to go for the latest version myself but I ran into similar problems. Luckily so far 5.6 is the only version i've needed so far.

The video I watched is an old one. I'm doing it still, as it helps, just wanted a full understand in what to do in that situation. I'll give it another try.

If you have xampp installed.

WINDOWS though.

For the workbench only install the workbench client make sure the xampp control panel is on for the apache and mysql server.

That's how i followed a long.

If not your going to have to uninstall all your mysql servers and try to do a clean install.
