Is there a time when it is better to use rgb vs hexadecimal colors or vice versa?

Simone,

Using rgba allows you to set the opacity of the colors. Also it is much easier to manipulate the rgb colors with JavaScript. But to take up for hex values for a second I would say they can be made much shorter (#000000 can be shortened to #000). Enjoy the rest of your day!
