Is "Visual Studio for Mac" really Visual Studio? I want to use it for Xamarin development.

I saw in the "Introduction to Xamarin": https://teamtreehouse.com/library/setting-up-our-development-environment

that Treehouse is using Visual Studio (Windows version) on a virtual machine on a Mac.

I have a Mac.

Do you think that Visual Studio for Mac can replace the normal Visual Studio (Windows version)? https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/visual-studio-mac/

If you are developing iOS and Android you can use VS for Mac. They are very different IDEs but it has all the features for developing mobile apps.
