It keeps saying that the last line is an illegal start of type and symbol not found

This occurs with the i in isInvalidWord and ( that starts it

Can you post your code, please?

A 'symbol not found' error means you've not defined a variable properly; Java is unaware of the variable name. The other error will be something similar but if you can paste the code we'll be able to figure it out.
