In this video Guil says "When used on an HTML element, the ref attribute takes a callback function that receives the underlying DOM element as its argument".

What does he mean by the underlying DOM element?

Hi shyarkhalil,

I interpreted it as the current element you want to reference, so in the example he was referencing the input element. If it was a <a> element it would be the <a> element
