Keep getting errors with GitHub Desktop

After downloading the workspace for the Jar Game project, I try to use GitHub Desktop to add it as suggested by your instructor. But when I try to add the project it asks to create a repository. When I accept this, it then says an occur and that I might need to open a shell to debug this repository!

I see the initial commit when through OK on GitHub, and you later added a README.md. Did you managed to fix the issue?

No, I tried everything with Github Desktop, but to no avail. Eventually, I used a command line she'll to publish it on my GitHub account.
