Hi Bernardo, I took a look at your hostel logo, and I think it's headed in the right direction. I have a couple questions for you:

1.) What are the brand adjectives for the hostel? How would they describe themselves? If the company was a person, what adjectives would they use to describe their personality? 2.) Who's the intended audience? In other words, what types of people is the hostel hoping to attract? Once you know these things, you'll want to make sure that every design decision that you make reflects or supports these things. It's hard for me to tell you what I think of the logo without knowing them. If you want to add them here, I'll be happy to give you more feedback on the actual design. :)

One last thing, in the image you provided, the whole thing seems to be skewed a little. Is that the design? Or were you trying to show perspective to showcase the logo? When you are trying to get feedback on a design, it's best to present it on a plain white background with no "frills". You don't want anything to distract from the critique of your design.

Anyway, keep up the good work! I like that you are thinking about the various elements and a way to tie in the mountains and colored rooms. :)

Hey Amber, thank you so much for your feedback :D

I guess the skew was my lame attempt to showcase it, the actual design is all flatilicious.... *facepalm

I really like the feel of this. Here are some of my suggestions:

For the text it looks like you have three different weights on your words. Personally I would either make "Mountain sensations" bold and leave hostel the same or make "Mountain" bold and then make "sensations" the same weight as hostel. Also check your spacing between your words.

For logos it is a good idea to only use up to 4 colors. But that doesn't mean you can't have more than that. For best practice, If you want to go with this logo, also make a 4 color version and a 1 color version.

I played around a little with colors too.

See here: https://redpen.io/27yodp

I feel the different shades of the colors really make it though, and it seems to work pretty nice in black and white.

That's not lame at all. And from looking at Dribbble, you'd think that's the thing to do.

Resend the logo without all the glam and get me the answers to those questions, then we can talk more. Take care!

Your questions made me reflect on it a little bit more, i might make a couple changes with that in mind.

The hostel is going through a bit of a rebranding and redecorating the whole place. We are working on a somewhat modern fresh look, which i guess would apeal to a younger audience. But I'll have to do some more digging around to make sure we're going in the right direction.

Anyway here is the logo with no gimmicks: https://redpen.io/mdtw7k

Thank you once again.

Ahhhh, so much better. I can actually see your work now. :)

Send over those brand adjectives and target market when you have them and we can talk in more detail about your design.

Alright so it appears they're aiming for a very wide market. They hope to attract both young and old, but given their location I'd give some importance to young/middle-aged backpack travellers or something along those lines.

Good job on the target market. I still need brand adjectives: Is the place simple and clean? Or brightly decorated and fun? Do they want to appear established and more conservative? Or are they wanting to look young and fresh and unexpected? These things will help you with colors, typography, and style.

I agree with Calvin Bramlett, that the typography needs some tweaking. I would actually suggest introducing another typeface. I'd make "Mountain Sensations" one typeface and "Hostel" another. Or maybe put "hostel" in some sort of enclosure. Either way, there should be some distinction between the two.
