Looking for web designers who will let me develop their site(s) for free... to help me create a portfolio

Hi have been learning web development on here for a number of months now, and am now at the stage where I would like to build some websites to show in the future to possible employers. I have looked into webdesign, and have managed to gain some good knowledge, however as this isn't what i am looking to do as a career, I am hoping rather than me having to learn web design completely, in order to show my development skills to possible employers. I am hoping i might be able to find some designers that are will to give me web designs which i would be able to develop (for free) which i can then use in my web development portfolio. I would be happy to reference you as the designer of-course. If anyone also knows of any websites which i can advertise myself to designers again for free (as at this moment in time I'm not look to earn money, I'm just looking to build a excellent portfolio).

This may be a perfect opportunity for you to create website templates that you could potentially sell. This can allow you to get creative without having to follow any guidelines and really show off your skills that you learned here.

Another option is to look around your area for non-profits that have websites that need sprucing up. I know in my area there are plenty of animal rescues that have terrible websites in dire need of updating. Obviously this takes a willingness to dabble in design a bit, but it'll help round your skills out better.

Maybe there is someone who wants to do more with their design portfolio and is willing to collaborate with you, even if it is for a fun non-serious project.

Thank you. I think your right that looking at other websites and changing them is going to be best option. Not really what i wanted to do. Id really like to have a design to work from and develop as this more likely to be what i would be doing as a job. Finding a web-designer is a good idea too, just a case of find someone :)

This really can work. After contacting a few local non profits, I find a volunteer position updating one's website design (html, css, js).

Also, was able to find a position on http://www.volunteermatch.org/ using the appropriate filters.

Are you looking to 'design' (photoshop/illistrator) or Design (Html css etc)

This sounds like a great idea thank you, by this you mean basically putting together layouts.

I would still like to be able to create some full website which someone has designed, and provided logos images and the content for me. I cant see how this would that hard, surely there are designers that would grab the chance to have a websites developed for free? anyone have any ideas?

My business website has a Wordpress site on it at the moment. I will find time to develop something even half-decent at some point!

Feel free to use the graphics and content on there to develop something better. If it works for me & the business, I'll keep the design on there and credit your work. I have a few extra images etc. if you want - there's only the banner on there at the moment.

Let me know if you think you can do something with it.
