looping while the value passes

I have no idea what the instructions mean by create a new variable named response. Even when I used the example shown but the editor kept telling me there is a syntax error.

Example.java
// I have initialized a java.io.Console for you. It is in a variable named console.
String reponse;
 console.printf("Do you understand do while loops?   ");

Store the value returned from Console.readLine method in the String variable named response.

String response = console.readLine("Do you understand while loops? ");
