Mobile IoT

Hi! I was looking at TI and AdaFruit hardware and I saw a few IoT development kits that said they connect to smart phones. I am on the iOS development track and I was curious if any of the Swift classes teach how to make apps that connect to IoT Dev boards or kits. Thanks!
