Names surrounded by ``characters

In the SQL course we created tables without using the `` characters around names. What's up with that here in this video? https://teamtreehouse.com/library/using-php-with-mysql/connecting-php-to-mysql/creating-the-products-table

Some DBMSs like MySQL will add single quotes to table names and field names, when they present the SQL. When you write SQL you don't need them. They are entirely optional UNLESS you have spaces in your table or field names, and then they are required. But it's very, very bad practice to have spaces in table or field names. Please, don't ever do it.
