Need help figuring out how to proceed

The impression I get is that you want Little Hands Cooking to be one of the services you offer under your business, Bunnie Blogs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

In that case I think you can have the one company (Bunnie Blogs) and that should suffice. To highlight this with an example, 37Signals is a company, and Basecamp, Highrise and Campfire are all separate products they sell, each with distinct customer segments. The products/services all exist in the one company structure.

Little Hands Cooking as far as I know doesn't need to be a subsidiary. If you get bigger and the types of activities run by the company are vastly different, then it may make sense to create two separate entities. Right now, it would mean a lot of extra fees and paperwork.

Hi Melissa, can you give an example of perhaps another blogger or site doing what you're talking about?

I'm not sure if you're referring to affiliate marketing, or coming up with multiple blogs (and brands) to build up new audiences....

I can say this much though: coming up in a couple of weeks, we're going to be premiering a new business-related course entitled "How to Build Your Business Through Blogging", taught by author C.C. Chapman. It's going to have some helpful information for people who want to build up the audience of an existing business as well as want to understand more about content marketing and how to take their influence to the next level.

I think maybe the best bet is to try to clarify what I'm talking about. I have a blog named Little Hands Cooking. I want to make it into a kind of web app and trying to make it a somewhat social site for mom's who want to involve their kids in cooking. I want to have merchandise and advertising for this site. But I want all of the things that Little Hands Cooking does to be under the Bunnie Blogs (my freelance business) umbrella. Is there a way that this would be feasible? Would it need to be like a subsidiary company? Any ideas or advice?

Sounds like you need to figure out some legal questions before you actually implement what you want to do. Pasan Premaratne might have some ideas on this, as well as some sites on where to look for clarification...

Yeah that's why I'm asking about it is just trying to get an idea of what I'm looking for to be well researched before I sit down with a lawyer and try to make steps towards making this a reality.

Okay thank you! This is exactly what I was thinking. I was just trying to figure out the logistics of it so that I know what I'm doing when I go in to incorporate (sometime after I finish my classes and really get ready to get my business rolling).
