Not sure how to complete this challenge?

I'm just not sure what to do. I've tried multiple ways to solve it.

Just keep getting parse error.

It'd be nice if when I got it wrong I got a little more help than what it is giving me. How about a hint or something?

Hi Paul,

Your max() function will need to use parameters and not literal values.

function max(number1, number2) {
  // number1 and number2 are variables that hold the values of what was passed in when
  // the function was called

  if (number1 > number2) {
    // return something
  } else {
    // return something else
  }
}

max(1, 2); // calling the max() function and passing in the literal values 1 and 2
