npm install error

I keep getting the following error message...

bash: npm: command not found

It turns out I was on the wrong git branch.

It appears I was in the wrong git branch. Switching the branch to git checkout lesson-03-first_application solved the problem.

It looks like you still need to install npm onto your system.

Check this link for instructions on installing node.js and npm.

You can then verify if node and npm are installed by typing

node -v
and 

npm -v

Thanks Jonathan Grieve . I do have it installed and still not working. Node version v6.11.3 and npm version 3.10.10

Any other suggestions?

Does it matter the location in which directory Node / npm is installed?

Not compiling too, even on third branch and with npm and node.
