Paypal configuration currency

Uploaded site and I am getting the letter A with an accent infront of the £ sign. I cannot see where in Paypal I need to adjust. Any suggestions?

What if you use £ or £ instead of £ where you specify pounds in your code?

Thank you. B,ecause the code was ok on my local server, I erroneously thought the problem was to do with paypal. I obviously did not think it through.

The &pound sign worked best.
