PHP MVC/CMS Tutorial for 2016

Hey, I'm looking to nice mvc pattern tutorial to build cms system using php. I found one on udemy https://www.udemy.com/complete-php-mvc-tutorial/ but based on two reviews some stuff there is outdated. I would like to find something up to day with common practices. Do you know any good course to learn mvc pattern and create cms system? I need to do a little project and I don't want to use any framework because I never used it. However, if you think that would be a better option please provide some tutorials for a good framework to work with.

I also would like a php MVC course! Preferably from Alena. I was hoping treehouse would be able to fill in the gaps where my college course moves way too quickly, but I'm extremely disappointed that not one of the tons of php courses here touch on the MVC.
