Portfolio theme feedback

Hi all, i am wondering if i can have a review on my theme that i am currently designing.

I have only just started about 30-40 minutes ago, please be as critical as you want :)

I realise that the logo is pixelated, it's because i do not have it set to "sharp" on the font. Also, the footer is not complete yet so ignore that part.

Hi Brian, The theme looks nice. What framework does it use? Genesis? On the portfolio, will the images open to?? The site? A larger image? All in all I think it looks like a very nice theme.

Hi Gary, thanks for the positive feedback. Would you change anything or add anything??

The framework it will use is Bootstrap 3. I am still currently in design mode, mocked up some stuff on paper first and am now turning it into PSD.

The images on the portfolio will open up on the site, a blog post with the full image and a bit of information with a comment section below.

Once again i appreciate the feedback :)

Brian, Awesome that the images are linked to the site and having a bit of information is great. I currently have a client that is adamant about his site not being what I would consider pleasing to the eye or very user friendly, so I would like to make that disclaimer when I add his site to my blog. I have already told him that I am writing that disclaimer in hopes that he will learn to start listening to what I think he should change his mind on. One thing is he wants his navigation only at the bottom of the page, and I ask him if he is %^$king serious? He said it was different and I told him it is stupid. Let me ask you if I can have a few hours or even tomorrow night to look at your images of the site. All in all I think its a great theme, I just want to play with somethings in my head before I comment. I do have another question, the links, are there links to an about page, how the designer works, etc. I am sure you have included those, but since I only see the three bars, I just wanted to be sure. On the portfolio images, are they greyed out a bit and then when you rollover does the image become more in color? I like the contact page, is the map going to be from Google maps or something or is it a static image? If its static, I think it would be nice to add the actual address written on the map so the person can see the address and the map. Again, I am just looking at an image not a working site. Thanks, gary

I always had that with clients when i was working with them on projects of theirs. I always try to recommend to them stuff that i think would be more easy on the eye but if they are adamant then i just do what they want, after all it's their website not ours, it's their personal preference. I do know where you are coming from though.

The bottom of the page he wants his nav? Well, it's different alright bit i also would agree it is not the best thing to do.

What do you mean tomorrow night to look at my images of my theme??

As for the links, yes i have that covered, not finished the nav section but here is an image of what happens when you click the toggle switch or as you call it "the three bars" lol.

As you can see, it adds an overlay over the header / hero unit and displays the nav. On the left of the toggled section will be widgets :) You get the idea.

For the portfolio images they are in color and then when you rollover them it overlays white and adds the title which will be an href to the blog post / portfolio page.

Well i was not sure about the map, just put it there just now. Possibly a static image with some writing over it, i feel that would fit more but them a big image like that will be heavy on the site so as for that i am not quite sure if i will use that yet.

I have updated the home page theme image on the first post to what i have now, just a few edits have been changed.

I plan on having a hell of alot of pages for this website such as:

Home - 3 different styles, for choice

About - Single about page

Portfolio - 2 different styles, 4 col grid and also a 3 col grid

Pages - 404 error, custom forum.. etc etc

Blog - Full width no sidebar, container, blog with sidebar

Contact - single contact page

When I said tomorrow night, I just like to look at things for a bit before commenting fully. I like to take a couple looks and see if I get the same impression a second time. It's a perspective thing with me.

oh, ok no problem :)
