CSS CSS Basics (2014) Enhancing the Design With CSS Text Shadows and Box Shadows

Problem with Task 4 on the first exercise.

Why is this not passing?!

box-shadow: 0px 2px 15px #aaa, inset 0 0 60px 5px firebrick;

I keep getting the error that asks if I've remembered to put a comma between the values... Which clearly I have.

style.css
/* Complete the challenge by writing CSS below */
.main-heading {
  text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #be7b31;
}

.title {
  text-shadow: 1px 3px 0px #e59740;
}

.main-header {
  box-shadow: 0px 2px 15px #aaa, inset 0 0 60px 5px firebrick;
}
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <title>Lake Tahoe</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="page.css">
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
  </head>
  <body>
    <header id="top" class="main-header">
      <span class="title">Journey Through the Sierra Nevada Mountains</span>
      <h1 class="main-heading">Lake Tahoe, California</h1>
    </header>

        <div class="primary-content">
            <p class="intro">
                Lake Tahoe is one of the most breathtaking attractions located in California. It's home to a number of ski resorts, summer outdoor recreation, and tourist attractions. Snow and skiing are a significant part of the area's reputation.
            </p>
            <a class="callout" href="#more">Find out more</a>
        </div><!-- End .primary-content -->

        <footer class="main-footer">
            <p>All rights reserved to the state of <a href="#">California</a>.</p>
            <a href="#top">Back to top &raquo;</a>
        </footer>
  </body>

Hi Brent,

The challenge gets confused by a "0px" value like the one you have in the first part of your box-shadow rule in the ".main-header" selector. Take out the "px" portion beside the 0, and the challenge will pass. The reason behind this is that when you have a zero value it doesn't have to have any units. For some reason the challenge accepts the "0px" units in the first selector but not in the third selector. But when you're writing CSS, you can just keep in mind that there's no need to put a unit beside a 0 value. =]

.main-header {
  box-shadow: 0 2px 15px #aaa, inset 0 0 60px 5px firebrick;
}

Thanks for your help!

Anytime, Brent! Happy Coding! :)

It is strange to me though that this small detail will break the answer validator, but leaving off ending brackets - '}' - and semi-colons seem to make it through.

It can seem strange, I agree. There are times when you don't have to put an ending } or a ; if the selector is the last selector or the rule is the last rule of that selector. Although best practices dictate that you should always end with a } for a selector and a ; for a rule.
