You forgot to give the last line a type of String

 String firstName = "Gordon";

 String lastName = "Sumner";

 console.printf("Hello %s", firstName);

 String band = console.readLine("Which band?  ");

Thank you that was so simple and I feel slow for missing that too funny. Thanks for the help.
