HTML Introduction to HTML and CSS (2016) Make It Beautiful With CSS Select and Style by Element

Question about letter-spacing.

In the example shown, before the letter-spacing property is used, do spaces between letters have a default pixel value for their spacing? For example, does the h3 heading used in the video already have a pixel value for the space between letters, and thus the value of the added letter-spacing property work in addition to this default value?

If so, does this mean that when using "letter-spacing: .5px", we are actually giving it a total of 1px, etc? Hope my question makes sense.

You're exactly right. The value specified as the letter-spacing property is applied in addition to the default spacing. So a value of 0 is essentially the same as "normal".

See the MDN page on letter-spacing for more details.

Thank you!
