I have heard about the language R and am wondering what it is (in fairly simple terms) and were I could learn it. Thanks.

There's no R at Treehouse (so far).

There's an entire series on Data Science and R programming given by Johns Hopkins University at Coursera.

You can audit courses there for free, you just don't participate in the assignments, quizzes, or exams. There's no audit option if you enroll in the series but there is if you enroll in the individual course(s).
