Searching for Job

Hello, I'm sushmitha. I have completed frontend and web design tracks in the treehouse and I want to work remotely and as a freelancer. I'm very passionate to get a job in tech as well I have no idea how to get clients in this tech industry. I have applied for many jobs and still waiting for the email for a response but no use. I was eagerly waiting for a chance to prove myself and a chance to built my career in tech. Can anyone out there please help me in reaching my dream job and landing my first client. Please help me!

Hi Susmita,

Do you happen to have a personal portfolio or any projects that you've worked on? Clients generally want that you are able to do the work that they are requiring before they take a look at you for any work.

The best way for you to break in may be to continue to work on your skills on here and using other resources as well. Then look for a web design/web development position that will help you get your feet wet. Coding in a professional setting is much different than coding on Team Treehouse, and you may need some experience in that before you're successfully able to work freelance and remotely.

Best,

Curtis

Hi Susmita,

How do you present yourself to potential clients? Do you have examples of projects (real or fake) you worked on? Maybe an online portfolio perhaps? How much do you charge? What is it that sets you apart from other freelancers?

Something that works well in general is reading more about your clients. Who is this person that you're contacting? What kind of company is it? Mention things you find fascinating or interesting about the industry they are working in. Try to create some sort of connection with them. Show them that you've put 30 minutes of serious effort into doing some research and setting up a good work-application.

In my experience in contacting clients quality always beats quantity. When I started out I spammed everybody I could find with emails asking for works. The few who replied were the worst clients I've ever had. Once I started putting effort into contacting 1 or 2 clients a day the jobs came more easily, I started to earn (a lot) more and I started to enjoy my work again.

Hope it helps, Max

Thank you so much, Max senden I want to change the way I approach clients decided to rebuild my portfolio and resume.
