SEO basics course, a genuine question

Hello.

I have just started the SEO basic course and I have finish the very first section. The extra-credit points us to a webpage that we should read and I have liked it.

So all good.

But question is:

Why is that page mainly an image? Ok, it is an infographic, but according to what we are learning with SEO, shouldn't we avoid this kind of solutions for the best SEO?

I was just wondering about this, maybe someone can explain this to me.

You are right, it is not an SEO best practice. Better options for this infographic would have been to use semantic HTML or even a readable PDF.

While they are not taking full advantage of their content, if it is of good quality, they can make up for it when others link to and share it. Those links combined with the keywords in the title, url and heading may allow this page to be successful for the keywords they pursued.
