servers and domain names

Is there any reason to buy server space from someone other than who you register your domain name with? It seems like godaddy or namecheap.com or most of the domain name registry's offer to sell you server space when you purchase the domain name.

For me the decision was the opposite.

My priority was to find the right company to host my server, that should be the most important i think.

Then deciding on a domain reseller is the easy part, not much difference in this part across the board i feel, unlike the vast differences in hosting options and prices.

Then the question would be, Any reason to buy domain names from someone other than you use to host your server?

Yes, in fact you should almost never buy server space from a registrar, that tends to be upsell garbage and subpar.

Pick a domain reseller you like and stick with it. I use Hover because their interface is quite simple but I also avoid their DNS. I manage my DNS with the company I'm hosting with (in my case, Linode). All of these services can be separated and dealt with individually.
