General Discussion

Should I be disappointed in myself?

This is a more general question about programming. So I have been using treehouse for about a year and a half, and I have been putting my skills to use. The thing is: when I try to create an app, I put it on hold or it never gets made because I can't find a solution to a problem in development. Then I look at other members who have been using treehouse for only a year, or maybe less, and have successfully created an app. This has somewhat bothered me; what is it that I'm doing wrong? Why is it that others who are at the same skill level as I can create complex apps and make it look easy while I struggle with making even the simplest app?

Because everyone is different and people grasp different concepts at different times. Trust me, I've just been offered my first junior position, it has taken me nearly 3 years to get to this point. My github account gives a fair idea of how many projects i have started, and then given up on. It happens. Your best bet is to give up on them (in my opinion, and only for a little while) then find something similar to make, get a broader understanding of the concept / piece of code you're struggling with and then go back to it. Don't abandon it, just put in on the back burner until you are more comfortable with what you are trying to achieve. Best of luck!
