So sublime text isn't entirely free

Hi, mostly for legality purposes that I post this since the lessons here in treehouse uses sublime text..I though that this was free like notepad++ but turns out it's not..and quite a price for it almost like buying two PS3 games. So, I can't really use this application unless I pay for it's license right?

Sublime Text is free for evaluation. If you enjoy the text editor, the developers request that you purchase a single user licence but it says nowhere (that I can find) in their legal documentation that the unlicensed editor can't be used for commercial purposes.

In other words, unless you're a professional developer or representing a business, you should be fine to use the unlicensed version for as long as you'd like. However, you should certainly consider buying a licence in the future to support the developers :)

Hope that answers your question!

Check out their EULA if you have any other queries, or even send them an email.

Also, just so you know, there is an open-source porting of Sublime Text called Lime which is totally free (though it also accepts donations).
