3,032 Points[SOLVED] How to use float for the figure element and the p element? (This is a personal project.)
Hey everyone, I am doing this personal project to practice my HTML and CSS skills, I am basically building a website for a made up bakery shop.
I am using the figure element just to play around with it but ran into a problem, I am trying to put one figure element to the left and the p element to the right of that figure. As for the other figure, it's the same thing but vice versa. I got the figure element to float where they need to go but I am having trouble figuring out how to float the <p> element where it needs to go and have it lined up with the figure element. It just looks jacked up and the more I play around and try to fix it the more jacked up it looks. Anyways the code I am about to show you is the closest I've gotten it to get the <p> element to go where it needs to go. this is my HTML code.

231,248 PointsIt's not quite clear what you are shooting for (a wireframe or other mock-up would help), but floats are notoriously difficult to manage.
A newer technology that gives far more control is flexbox. Removing the floats and adding this (no changes to the HTML) should provide an example:
.column1, .column2 {
display: flex;
align-items: center;
}
.fig-left, .fig-right, .column1 p, .column2 p {
flex: 1;
}
.fig-right {
order: 2;
}
.column2 p:first-of-type {
order: 1;
}
You can get even better results by refactoring the HTML and CSS specifically for flexbox. Plus, you can re-arrange the layout if it's not what you intended.
Some of the courses here cover flexbox in detail. Plus, there are some really fun (and free) additional learning resources for flexbox:

3,032 PointsHey Steven hows it going, thanks for responding but I already figured this one out I wanted to use floats instead flexbox just to have practice with it. Thanks for the links I'm definitely going to use them.
