Some advise?

I am watching a video on operators and control structure practice time. I am not really understanding fully what he is doing here, I no how to do all of the other stuff I learned in Ruby that he teached me in but this unit or this general section is not really getting to me. Any advice on what I should do? Because I really want to know I am doing when I am moving further into the units. To me for some reason I don't no why but this unit is not really understanding to me, I understand some stuff, but I don' t really understand what is going on, I want to make sure I know what is going on or what is happening. I don't Really feel comfortable to just copy his work then use it, because I didn't really learn from that. If anyone can please help me and give me some advice, that would be greatly appreciated. Jason what do you think?

Thank you! :)

You could try the free Codecademy exercises. Just register and go to the section that interests you. Maybe another angle will help you in understanding this concept.
