Still having trouble figuring Function max...

Create a new function named max which accepts two numbers as arguments (you can name the arguments, whatever you would like). The function should return the larger of the two numbers.

HINT: You'll need to use a conditional statement to test the 2 parameters to see which is the larger of the two.

I've tried this many ways and I just can't seem to get it right. Any ideas? Am I supposed to be using variables in the argument? and then defining variables? Am I supposed to use the actual numbers in the argument parameters? I've tried both ways so I am not sure what I am doing here.

You have to name the function "max" like the code challenge said. And you don't need to assign the values to a variable named "max" you just check of the greater in an "if" statement. You could do it like this:

function max(num1, num2) {
  if (num1 > num2){
    return num1;
  }
  return num2;
};

alert( max(4,6));

The "alert" part is for the second task.

Thank you again, Carlos. I tried to solve this 38 different ways. wrong every time, which is why I was finally trying variable number add ins... overcomplicating. thank you so much for clarifying.
