Terminal on Mac running slow

Terminal is running really slow on my mac after a recent fresh install of Yosemite. Simple commands such as git status can take over a minute and commands such as npm install -g bower just hangs. I think it performs the tasks but in the terminal it just shows the loader spinning. It's the same in iTerm also.

It's driving me crazy, any help would seriously restore my sanity.

Thanks

Hey

Don't know if you resolved the issue. But I had similar issues a few months back. Used the tips in this link then which helped me.

Thanks Marc, I followed most of what was in that article. I'm using iTerm2 anyway. I've managed to get it running a bit better but when using Npm or Gulp is still takes a while installing modules or running tasks. :( In the videos they seem to run almost instantly.
